There’s this cafe my brother kept telling me to check out. I work in the loop so I love exploring the city (as far as it comes to the loop) as much as I can while I’m here. Who knows I might not be here that long and I’d like to travel as much as I can but growing up Indian (of any type of Asian descent really) you can’t do anything unless it’s with your future husband. My workaround to this mentality? Lunch time findings in the city. I scavenge the loop to try to find cute places that I have to really walk for. I was telling my brother how I went to the grand opening of Sugar Bliss Cake Boutique and ended up getting a gluten free brownie but since it was their grand opening and I guess I’m kind of cute too, they ended up giving me a second one for free. And it ended up being the best brownie I have ever had and I can eat gluten. So booger (my brother) goes “Have you been to Goddess and the Baker, right across from it on Wabash?”, I say extremely curious “No…” and then he tells me “You should REALLY go.” And boom it was in the back of my head the whole time. I made up a plan to see some of my friends for lunch, they asked where do you want to go? I casually threw in Goddess and the Baker being least suspecting of also having never been there. And honestly it was such a good idea. The place is absolutely adorable. I found a location near my work place as well but I went to the one on Wabash since it’s right next to DePaul (I’m an alum, I need any excuse to go to school) and a couple of my friends are in school. The distance didn’t even matter because the matcha latte I had was well worth it! It was $5.75 but I kid you not, I didn’t even feel bad about it cause it was that good and also their mugs are the size of my face. They’re definitely going to be seeing more of me!
